Created in 2018. 2018 was a year where I became more confident in creating bigger and bolder art pieces. I knew what I wanted to do in my life overall and I was juggling the corporate job and creating art. Working crazy long hours and coming back home in a taxi after missing the tube I was trying to do both the art and the corporate job at a full speed. In between I was really into my mediation practise and started a regular chanting practise that embraced having faith in life and trusting life’s process.
So balancing act was something I was doing. This piece is to show that despite the drama, the hours, the physical ups and downs, I kept my head high and had complete and utter faith that I could accomplish anything and everything. Realising in order to get to our destination we have to work hard, have faith and when we get there hold on to it for dear life but once we are there it’s a wonderful sight. Viewing the world, life from on top of the mountain! When I view this piece I’m usually singing George Ezra’s song Shotgun!
This piece is a mish mash of drawing and illustration skills. The bird is a collage. I’d created him separately and then drew his beak and the leg in afterwards. I wanted to create an organic shape which was just a ball of colourful fun, and I wanted to experiment to see if I could use that piece across a number of images. So that’s what I did. Look out as the “ball” reappears in Lady’s Day #1!
