Throughout life I’ve struggled to understand who I was, and who I identify with. I’ve come to realise that it’s fine not to identify with a group, a tribe of people but to celebrate my idiosyncrasies because those quirks and eccentricities make me the individual who I am. I don’t wish to live to other people’s expectations but want to be judged by my own values.
This piece celebrates that by using the unicorn.
My unicorn drawing isn’t based on the stereo typical beautified unicorn imagery which seems to have taken over the world over the past few years, but based on a sense of fun, trail blazing stuff the rules approach. She’s not symmetrical, she’s not perfect. In fact she’s got two horns one of which is on the wonky side but she’s still a unicorn.
